In 1997, as a direct response to the growth of right-wing structures and violent acts in the state of Brandenburg, 29 different organizations established the Brandenburg Alliance against Right-wing Extremism. The network promotes the mobilization and action of civil society against right-wing extremism, and xenophobia. On May 29, 2010 the alliance organized a sit-in with over 500 participants to block a Nazi march in Bernau, a suburb of Berlin. Further interventions were planned on the weekend following the blockade. The pamphlets available at the sit-in outlined 18 different reasons to raise your voice against right-wing extremism. Interested persons can order the educational material or download it as a pdf.
