Design in urban conflicts

Teaching

Together with image-shift we organized this seminar with students from the HTW Berlin. The subject was Kottbusser Tor (« Kotti »), a famous square in Berlin Kreuzberg. The squares’s neighborhood is torn apart between a bad reputation and a heavy gentrification process happening since few years. Beyond the stereotypes and the myths, the students asked the tourist passing by, the local residents as well as local engaged persons, their perspective and hopes for the neighborhood. More than the summary of those discussions, the newspaper produced on this occasion raises questions and open the debate on city politics and the future of this neighborhood and the city of Berlin.
